Circuit Board Recycling

In recent years, sales of electronic goods have increased. After their useful life they sooner or later (hopefully) end up at the local waste disposal company's recycling collection.

A typical circuit board contains many elements of the periodic table, some of them very valuable. Recovering them in a recycling process significantly reduces the environmental impact of their production and makes us less dependent on suppliers from parts of the world that are politically unstable.

Projektziel

The aim of the project is to use digital image processing methods to obtain as much information as possible about the circuit boards to be recycled, so that the downstream recycling processes can be optimised.

The idea is also presented in the following video, produced in cooperation with the company item:

A variety of image data has been generated over the course of the project. To support the choice of a suitable Bayer pattern interpolation algorithm, here. and here. Bilddaten hinterlegt worden.
