At the Chair of Imaging & Computer Vision, we have a modern computing infrastructure that supports us in executing complex research projects. Our academic staff and students have access to powerful workstations and ample storage capacity. A dedicated IT team ensures that everything runs smoothly—whether it’s day-to-day operations, handling support requests, or project planning.
Welcome to our state-of-the-art research room dedicated to video quality analysis! Here, we focus on examining and evaluating the quality of videos using various compression techniques. Our goal is to identify the best technologies that provide an unparalleled viewing experience.
Positron emission tomography (PET) is a highly sensitive medical imaging modality with broad application, e.g. in oncology for tumor diagnosis. PET is based on functional tracers injected into the patient and accumulating at their specific target structures in the body after a certain time. During the radioactive decay of the tracers, they emit positrons that annihilate with electrons. This produces two oppositely oriented, high-energy gamma photons that leave the body and are registered by a surrounding ring of detectors.
Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) is an innovative medical imaging technology in which the spatial distribution of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIOs) is visualized with high-resolution and in real-time. The SPIOs are stimulated by a dynamic magnetic field and their response – which is proportional to the concentration of the SPIOs – is recorded.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an established method of medical imaging that focuses on the anatomical representation of tissues and organs. We have a clinical 1.5 Tesla MRI system in which we research the integration with PET systems and conduct reference measurements for our own developments in low-field MRI.
