Industrial Image Processing

The aim of industrial image processing methods is to ensure the quality of (mass-produced) products such as optical data carriers (CD, DVD, CD-ROM). For this purpose, each individual product is recorded by a camera immediately after manufacture. Using suitable image analysis procedures, potential defects in the product can be detected before delivery (“zero-error policy”). Pattern recognition algorithms are used to detect and classify manufacturing defects.
The detection of color, especially of textiles and fibers, plays a special role. Various camera systems up to multispectral cameras are used here. These data are analyzed for color defects in algorithms specially developed for processing color textures.
